About Stapleton's Tyre Services
In 1937, Sidney Stapleton began his journey as a tyre specialist. At Stapleton’s original premises in Watford, Sidney created a passageway at the side of the shop enabling motorists to have their vehicle’s tyres changed off the road – an ingenious idea at the time.
Keeping pace with the ever-growing motor industry, Sidney’s company began expanding into specialist tyre retailing in the 50s and 60s. By 1970, a new head office was built with multiple fitting bays and large warehousing facilities standing on an impressive three-quarters-of-an-acre site, a stone’s throw away from the building where everything started.
In 1994, Stapleton’s was acquired by the Japanese Itochu Corporation and has continued to go from strength to strength. Combined with many of Stapleton’s traditional values, Itochu’s acquisition and investment has seen Stapleton’s become the market leader, distributing passenger car tyres to the specialist tyre retail trade and the car dealership sector.
Today, Stapleton’s Tyre Services employs over 1000 people at 11 strategic locations across the UK, and is a national leader in tyre warehousing and distribution. Despite this, Stapleton’s values of excellent quality products, local friendly service and customer-centric culture remain as prominent today as over the previous 80 years. Our customers’ needs continue to be the central focus with a strong desire to provide a total retail solution.
